BACKGROUND
The company first emerged in 1991, New Zealand, as a group of dedicated design engineers essentially to provide engineering solutions to the heavy engineering industrial sector. It was then the principal plant and machinery consultant to Steelpipe New Zealand Ltd.
During the period 1991 to 1995, for Steelpipe New Zealand (SPNZ), the company designed and managed the fabrication of a wide range of mill machinery and carrying this through to site erection and commissioning in order to effect a substantial plant upgrade. Other projects of note during this time included design of a set of Aluminum Extrusion Stretcher Clamps for Comalco NZ Ltd., design and development of an effective Stump Grinder machine as an excavator attachment, plant and process upgrades for Winstone Wallboards, and resolving some important plant operational issues for New Zealand Steel and Waihi Gold.
In 1996 the company focused its operation from Malaysia attached to Hicom Petro-Pipes Sdn. Bhd. in order to provide technical and production management support for Hicom's then new Krupp Hoesch Tecna GmbH supplied Off-line API Spiral Pipe mill. During this period Henry Engineering Sdn. Bhd. (HE) was involved in numerous high profile engineering projects concerned with plant, machinery and production system development and upgrades. This included the design, fabrication and commissioning of a Drop Weight Tear Test machine, a replacement Flattening Roll machine and a high performance Laser Weld Seam Tracking system including control software and hardware.
Hicom Petro-Pipes was both commercially and technically a very successful operation in providing the pipe for Malaysia's prestigious Peninsular Gas Utilization (PGU) project, producing around one thousand kilometers of large diameter API gas pipe. As part of an overall strategic plan the Hicom plant was relocated in the Middle East where it is once again being operated successfully by its new owners, Safa. During the hand-over period HE was responsible for maintaining the plant and systems intact and operational, and overseeing the packaging of the two thousand odd tonne of plant and machinery.
With this complete, 2005, HE was contracted on assignment to PSL Limited to start-up their new off-line operation in Gujarat, India. Today PSL certainly rates as one of the highest productivity mills in the world and HE is proud to have had a significant input into this achievement.
In 2007 HE services were engaged by SPNZ to assist with start-up of a new conventional (on-line) pipe mill venture in Australia, and later continued to provide technical consultation towards optimizing the operation.
2008, continuing on Henry Engineering identified an opportunity and applied the necessary design resources to incorporate its off-line forming technical know how into a solution viable for all operations.
Further to the pipe mill industry, HE continues to provide engineering services to a broad base of industry sectors such as oil & gas, mining, steel and forestry.
HE maintains a professional engineering service in-line with its experience and expertise. Please refer to SERVICES for further details.
